Description: This is a rare beauty of a horn and is ready to go!The horn was overhauled and re-lacquered by Van Laar in 2007, I bought it around 2017 and have used it intermittently as my "workhorse" since then. I have been relatively conscious of keeping the horn in good condition and it shows very little wear throughout. It recently had a chem cleaning and lightly played since then.I use Hetman's oil- #1 for valves, #5 for the third slide; standard lanolin on the other slides. Synthetic valve & cap washers for alignment.Playing condition is great overall with very little negatives to say about it. One thing to note, the second valve will get an infrequent and nearly unnoticeable hang- I suspect it's a wearing valve guide, but doesn't really need replaced since the 'issue' is very minor (but needs said). The lacquer job was done very well, no runs or anything else to point out, and the engraving is crisp (the "New York USA..." on the bell flair seam is buffed away). One other interesting mod on this horn is that, rather than moving the whole fixed third slide ring, they decided to leave in the original position and hard solder the ring closer to the valve block. This was very comfortable to me and I looked at it as an upgrade. There is plenty of interesting history to dive into with Rudy Muck and this horn is a great example; Although not original vintage, I imagine it's the best variant out there for anybody in need of a great playing, vintage horn. I think the loose quote... "I like classic, so long that it's new" applies to this horn.Message with any questions.
