He explained to me that this handy roofers' tool is three tools in onesan ax for splitting slate or shake Shinglesa Hammer for pounding nailsa notch for pulling nailsHe thought the tool was likely made in USA but he did not know the age specifically.The tool weighs just over a pound and half. The overall length is about 13 1/2" and the head is about 6 1/2" long.One side of the head is marked G.T.W. as seen in a closeup photo.We have quite a variety of antique and vintage tools and hardware listed, including at the time of this listing, a hand forged iron hammer and another antique / vintage hammer. Condition: The hammer is in very good condition with a nice patina of age, with the following minor issues noted: there appears to be some small spots of black tar in a couple of spots on the head, and a couple of very minor traces of what could be the remains of white paint residue there are a few minor spots of scrapes and scuffing on the wood, and a few small chips at the base of the handle.
