Description: The Rolling Stones Rare Original New Orleans Superdome PromoA rare gem not to be confused amongst a sleuth of knock offs and charlatan replicas that are in circulation . The Rolling Stones Original New Orleans Superdome Tour Promo Poster Lineage: The journey of this item since 1978 has been brief but meaningful for the buyer. Originally, it was acquired by a young American gentleman in his early twenties, who was enamoured with a Polish foreign exchange student completing her studies at the time. He gifted it to her as a housewarming present for her apartment. The poster remained rolled up at the top of her student apartment throughout her studies. Over the years, she kept it as a keepsake in the same binding roll. Eventually, she immigrated to Toronto in the late 1980s, where it stayed in her storage until July 17, 2024, when it made its way to us. Its condition is impeccable, with only minor creasing due to being rolled up for decades. When flattened under glass, the creases become unnoticeable. The Rolling Stones have performed in New Orleans four times over the past 40 years. This does not include their two 75 shows at LSU in Baton Rouge, now known as the Pete Maravich Assembly With The Meters, these LSU gigs were considered warmups for the Rolling Stones' "Tour of the Americas '75," the first tour featuring guitarist Ronnie Wood. The Times-Picayune's John LaPlace quoted Mick Jagger as describing the LSU crowd of about 15,000 as “typical Southern…not a zoo, relaxed and no violence.” The Stones made their first appearance in New Orleans in July 78, performing at the Superdome for a crowd of 80,173. Van Halen and The Doobie Brothers opened States-Item reporter Richard Boyd noted that rumours of the Stones' breakup at the time were likely just that—rumours. This is the Original runoff produced first in a series of reprints and lithographs to follow. Condition: This promo poster is in near-perfect condition. The only noticeable markings are slight creases along the edges, resulting from being rolled and banded for decades. Once flattened and framed under glass, these imperfections become nearly undetectable, with no significant decrease in quality or value. There are no significant defects, rips, stains, or tears.
