Vintage Rare Purdue University Senior Cords Skirt Phi Mu Sorority 1961

Description: This is a rare vintage Purdue University Senior Cords Skirt from 1961. Hand made of yellow corduroy material with hand-colored decorations. Yellow colored corduroy is what the original Senior cords were made from around 1904 and this skirt is following that yellow corduroy tradition. The waist is approximately 24" and the waist to hem length is 28.75". The turned back hem is approximately 4" but the hem has been shortened by 1.25" at some point but could be rehemmed back to the original length of 30" or longer. The skirt is in good condition but is missing the clasp at the waist band. There is a pleat on one side along the hem that has a figure waving a banner with the words RAH!. The decorations include the Purdue train, Boilermaker Pete, a PU skunk, a teacher. a mouse and many other drawings or symbols (see pics). The Phi Mu Greek letters on the skirt represent the second oldest female fraternal organization establish in the United States in 1852.
