Description: This is a set of two vintage JEP (J de P) prewar tinplate cars, a Pullman coach and a Postal car. These were made in Paris, France between the years 1928-33. The coupler design was only used for a few years. These are the early design of cars that JEP continued to manufacture all the way into the 1950s, which retained the basic colors and the arching ladders on the ends. But what makes these unique are the railings and the Pullman has a smaller center window, as well as the detailed lithography on the wheels - all of which were dropped after 1933. These were made before the French national train system SNCF was formed. Thus they have a different logo on them as well. J de P was a french toy manufacturing group first called “Le jouet de Paris” that started in Paris 1909 making many different kinds of toys. In 1928 they became JEP and made 0 gauge trains from the 20s until 1963. They also made 00 trains. They ceased operations in 1965. I bought these directly from France. Ran them around my tracks for a few years. I have others, so just thinning my collection a bit. Great addition to any prewar or European train collection. Actually, a somewhat rare piece of model train history!
