Description: Vintage Native American Handmade Nickel Silver Cuff Bracelet Condition - Used Native American Nickel Silver cuff bracelet with applied primitive leaf, beads, stamped designs, and raised collars holding intensely colored red and blue stones. Nickel silver, also called German silver, was, and still is, used by Native American and other artisans since the early 1800s. These are metal alloys silvery in color, but contain litte to no silver. Nickel Silver is prized for its resistance to tarnish, is cut, stamped and worked much like sterling silver. Artisans use it make sophisticated designs more affordable. The primitive, appearance of the applied leaf, beads, stamped designs, and use of brightly colored stones inset in raised collars, leads me to believe that this may be an early example of Native American handmade metal jewelry work.
