Description: This is an expressive and ethereal Vintage Mid Century Modern Abstract Blue Woman Oil Painting on Masonite, by the renowned Mid Century Modern Los Angeles, California female artist, Kay Blaco. This piece is reminiscent of paintings from Pablo Picasso's Blue Period and depicts an expressionistically rendered young woman with very long hair, who holds a large white bowl in her hands. She has a long, flowing dress draped around her hips, and several other vessels, such as wine or olive oil bottles and small dishes lay at her feet. The subject is possibly a representation of an Ancient Roman muse or Caryatid, but I cannot say for certain without more context. Signed: "Kay Blaco" in the lower right corner. Additionally, this piece bears an old, yellowed original artist's label, which is affixed to the verso. Approximately 19 1/2 x 44 1/2 x 2 1/2 inches (including frame.) Actual artwork is approximately 15 x 40 inches. The painting is in very good shape for over half a century for age and storage, however the original period vintage wooden frame has substantial paint loss, chipping and edge wear (please see photos carefully.) Due to the large size of this piece, S&H costs will be unavoidably high, however Free Local Pickup is also an option. Acquired from an affluent old collection in Los Angeles County, California.
