The first dancing hula girl lamps started appearing in the 1940s. The lamps were originally made by the Dodge Company in Chicago. The Dodge company also used to make Oscar and Emmy awards. This is one of those original lamps- metal finished in Bronze. THE GREATEST LAMP EVER! The lamp has been updated with newer cord and polarized plug and Mica hat shade. A three-way control switch allows independent control of the light bulb and hula skirt motion. This lamp has the original motor inside that made the girl's hips swing under the skirt, the motor SYNCHRON, HANSEN MFG CO. USA Prenton, Indian. Working- see video. AS FOUND. The lamp with shade is 24.5” tall x 15” across x 7.25” across the base. It is 18.25” to the top of the socket – The Mica shade is 6.5” tall x 15” wide. Unboxed it is 5.25 lbs. Great vintage condition considering its age. Working, with some discoloration patina to the bronzed finished due to age- AS FOUND.
