Vintage LEGO TECHNIC Space Shuttle/Submarine Model 8480 COMPLETE w/Mini Figures

Description: This is the Lego Technic space shuttle/submarine model I bought on it's release year in 1996. I have checked the set inventory with bricklink and every piece is present. This includes the extra pieces, as well as many other extras, including 2 mini figures. The only thing missing are 5 of the stickers for the submarine model (see picture; red x's are missing). The other stickers are attached to their bricks as made for the space shuttle model. Also the original box is not included. (2) mini figures included are Spyrius Droid (Major Kartofski) and Unitron Chief (no helmet or visor). During reassembly to take pictures for this listing, I discovered a couple ways to improve the functionality of the drive train. Two of the places where belts are used, I changed to gears instead which stopped problems with slipping of the belts. Another place, instructions call for bushings to be used for belts to ride on. I changed those (2) bushings to (1) wheel (the same kind used for the wheels on the space shuttle; without the tires) which has a larger diameter, and gives a better grip to the belts and prevents slipping there. The original pieces as well as the extra pieces I used for the changes will be included so you can assemble as you choose. Pieces have normal play wear, none are seriously damaged except for (1) of the black arm pieces (bricklink piece# 6217b which has (1) of the (3) fingers broken off. It still works fine without it. Some of the bushings and axle/pin connectors are cracked but still functional (see picture). A few of the toothed half-bushings have 4 interior ridges instead of 2 (see picture). Many of the white pieces have yellowed (see comparison picture). The fiber optics cables are bent into the shape they held when assembled (see picture). The original wires had cracked with age and were replaced with new last year. The battery case is clean with no corrosion on the contacts. All the electronics work (see video). The manual is in good condition with no tears or markings. A few pages have bent corners. The cover has some wear (see picture). There was a loose page provided by Lego as an addendum which has wear on the edges. The original page is intact. Will be shipped completely disassembled with pieces sorted roughly by type in individual plastic bags (see picture). Will be shipped with USPS priority mail.
