Vintage Lancaster Glass Topaz Yellow #378 Cable 12.5” Bowl Sphinx Etch RARE

Description: A rare and special find. 1930s Lancaster Glass Topaz Yellow Pattern #378 Cable Line 12 1/2” Large Low Bowl, Low Console Bowl, with the coveted Sphinx etch. A rare and hard to find piece, as the Cable form with the Sphinx etch was only made in three bowl sizes and two vase sizes. Different than the typical acid etchings of the period; this is mould blown glass and a mould etching, which makes the etch “soft” as if it’s part of the glass itself. Twisted cable base/foot with a 3-ribbed and 3-paneled bowl/body with three large Sphinx etchings. The three ribbed sections with points curve downward, the panels/points with the etchings flare slightly up. Lancaster operated from 1908-1937. This piece was produced early 1930s. Gorgeous Art Nouveau design. This finer depression era glass is considered Elegant glass, as it was hand finished and polished. 12 3/4” from point to point, 3 3/4” high, 3 3/4” foot/base. Excellent condition: clean, clear glass, no cracks, chips, or flea bites. There are a few small bubbles in the glass, which is typical with this period glass. There is an inclusion; piece of white dust or speck of paper? at the bottom edge of bowl near the cable design. A few very light scratches here and there. I’ve tried to photograph them the best I can; they are not visible unless you’re really looking for them.
