Vintage La Mode 1930s Yellow Rolled Gold Shell Cameo Stretch Sweetheart Bracelet

Description: Vintage La Mode 1930's Yellow Rolled Gold Shell Cameo Stretch Sweetheart Bracelet. The bracelet measures approximately 4 1/2 inches without stretching, and while it stretches to approximately 8 inches would be most comfortable being worn on a wrist that is between 4 1/2 to 6 inches around. My wrist in the photo is 6 1/2 inches and I would like it if is were a bit looser. The carved shell cameo of a woman with updo hair and flower detailing measures approximately 12 mm and is bezel set with a high relief detailing on the wide bezel edge. The same high relief detail is on the bracelet links alternating with bright polished links. The bracelet is marked La Mode on the inside of one of the links. There are also 3 depressions around the outside edge of the bracelet, under the bezel that I thought might indicate that the top might pop off, such as a poison bracelet, treasure storage, but I could not get it to come off. They are part of the design of the piece, but I don't know for what purpose. The bracelet weighs approximately 27.66 grams. La Mode was made by the Ripley & Gowan Co, of Attleboro, MA, and was in business between 1880 up until the 1930's. A great piece to wear or to add to a collection of fine Victorian / Art Deco jewelry. Circa 1924 - 1930's. My father and my husbands father brought back many lovely pieces of jewelry, porcelain, clothing, perfumes, and household items to their new and future brides upon their return from Europe after WWII. Many of the items have gone to family, but there are still many items that need a home, and they are listed here. There are also other items, long held family treasures that also need to find new homes, as we have no room in ours for them. Many of them have been passed on from generation to generation over 100's of years. We hope they find a home with you.
