Description: Vintage JOSEPH ISRAELS (1824-1911) Children Of The Sea Print Canvas, Amsterdam Click images to enlarge Description VINTAGE FRAMED ART PRINT Charming vintage framed color print on canvas measuring about 13-1/4" wide by 11-1/4" deep. Originally painted by Dutch artist Joseph Israels (1824-1911), it depicts a group of children playing on the seashore, their attention on a small toy boat floating in the waves. Titled CHILDREN OF THE SEA, images are sweetly rendered - love the little girl clutching her brother's coat while he carries the smallest on his back. Frame is gilded with a medium blue trim to compliment the tones in the print. Purchased in Amsterdam, from the RIJKS Museum where the original is housed, image is printed on canvas, treated to create craquelure to mimic age. Condition is excellent with no damage other than a faint, tiny dot up in the skyline that looks like the result of a water drip - cannot be seen unless the painting is tilted at a certain angle in the light and does not detract a bit. I think this is a wonderful framed piece - unless you touch the actual canvas, it appears to be a real oil painting! Lovely addition to any home or display! If questions, please contact me, thanks!
