Description: Vintage 1930's John Grey Autocrat snare drum.Fully working, and all parts except for the hoops are original to the make and time period. This was a restoration project. When I got it it was rough. I believe the original owner must have transported it in his hardware case (and he must have been busy). It's the only way I can understand the condition it was in. It was an ugly bugger. But sounded great! The COB shell itself measures 14"x 6.5". There isn't an inch on the shell without a scratch bump or mark (full of character), internally it's fine. The Lugs/T-rods/hoops/wires/ heads and parallel action snare mechanism covers needed replacing.I had a few Autocrat snares. So, used one as a doner. This Autocrat has a parallel action snare mechanism, and it works perfectly.The snare wires are brand new Puresound wires.The Batter and Reso heads are new.The hoops are vintage Premier Diecast. They fit perfectly and are a top of the range, and a quality substitute for the original hoops. There is some mild pitting, but they're generally very good condition.The lugs have were all changed for an identical set in better condition. Some mild pitting and blemishes, but generally very good condition.The tension rods are in excellent condition. All parts have been cleaned and polished. Have a good look at the photos, as I've tried to show everything. Thanks.
