Description: I'm going to be listing quite a bit of antique clothing and textiles this week. Please ask any questions and double check measurements before bidding. Some of these items have been stored in a camphor chest and thus have a little bit of vicks vap-o-rub sort of smell. This listing is for a vintage Japanese silk obi. I'm not sure of the age but I've had them myself about 30 years and it was certainly vintage before that. I lived in Hawaii in the early 80's and there were 2 kimono shops on Oahu at that time. No idea if they're still there. But I spent a lot of time looking over all the kimonos and obi. I just think they're about the most beautiful articles of clothing out there. I bought this with the intention of making pillows. I could just never bear to cut into the fabric! It could be displayed as is or perhaps a talented sewer could reuse the fabric incorporate the fabric into upcycling a fabulous tunic or jacket. Or into an art quilt. The obi with the smaller overall pattern is 6 inches by 128 inches. Silk brocade with an allover pattern of cranes, pine trees and plum blossoms. Olive green/brown with such an opulent antique look. Pattern is the same on both sides. This is vintage and may have minor flaws but overall is in very nice condition. Vintage Japanese Silk Obi Olive Green Pine Crane Plum Blossom Repurpose Fabric?
