Description: Compared to the well-known Camillus Cub Scout Pocket Knives, the Imperial-made are less common, less well-known, and are tightly clustered around the 1946 to mid-1950s time frame. This particular knife has brass pins, and a low-relief silver Cub Scout emblem, with black plastic handles. It has been well-used by one pre-adolescent boy. It consequently shows the wear and tear to be expected. The blades have some corrosive pitting. The liner lock operates on the auger blade, but not automatically...it must be pushed to engage. The liner lock does not operate on the screwdriver blade. These are common findings among older knives that have been seriously used. The knife has been thoroughly cleaned (non-abrasive techniques) and lightly oiled to protect the finish. All blades open easily and are stable, with no wobble. As with all Imperial-made Cub Scout pocket knives, there is no mid-range stop for the main blade, which swings through its entire arc without pausing. While the condition is overall good, the wear is significant and reflects its age and use. The patina tells many stories of high and low adventure (campfire building, whittling, a variety of unauthorized science experiments). But because of its history, and the uncommonness of these knives in any condition, it would still be an excellent addition to anyone's collection.
