The wire was wrapped around the providedf grooves manufactured into the glass. This item is pre owned and in good condition. Weight prior packing: 1 pound 7 ounces. Measuremetns: 4 inches x 3.5 inches wide x 11.5 inches in diameter at its largest (7.5 inches in diameter at its smallest);This item will be a great addition to your 1940's collections of things. This item has some stains inside the grooves from rusty wires; small chip on top of the insulator; one small tooth (located at the base) is chipped. Please refer to pictures.
