Description: This vintage sari handwoven in Nepal in the 1970s, is a beautiful piece of Nepalese culture. The intricate weaving and attention to detail make it a unique addition to any collection. The sari was collected in Nepal in 1975 and it was new at that time. Nepalese saris are shorter than Indian ones as they do not go over the shoulder, and are worn as a skirt only. It measures 36" wide and 125" long (about 4 yards). It has a faded area from being folded in storage; it is barely visible on the reverse side as shown in the two photos of the same area. The last photo shows women preparing the warp for weaving saris and also shows how they wear the sari. Everything comes from my smoke-free and perfume-free home; however the sari has been stored and smells musty to me.
