Description: VINTAGE HAND CARVED WOOD DUCK DECOY BY R.D. LEWIS SIGNED, DATED 1977. This rare duck decoy carved over 45years ago does have some insect intrusion and some wear of the wood and stain painting. This wood sculpture is one of Mr. Lewis's earliest works in my collection. He always captures the essence of the duck with his accurate color staining and use of glass eyes that add to the realism. When you view his body of work over the decades you can see his affection for what he does by his continuing attention to detail and his refined sculpting and staining techniques. This duck decoy could be the beginning of a new collection or an addition to an existing collection as an example of the very early works of a talanted wood sculpture. His later works became more refined and the staining has more precise registration adding to the duck decoy realism.
