It is a heavy gauge steel with lots of embossed lettering on the can. It says "One-quart liquid" on one side and the other says, in part, "NYC-PA Approved Type". I can't make out all the lettering but it adds so much charm to this dented and dirty can. It has true age and wear. It measures 8" tall at the spout x 5" wide at the rim and 9.5" long. It weighs 15 oz. It is in good condition. It holds water but there are lots of signs of wear and use. I have wiped off the first layer of dirt and grime but I have not scrubbed it clean.
