Vintage Excellent 50s KNOX Gray Beaver 15 Fedora 7-1/4 Stetson

Description: This EXCELLENT early 1950s Vintage KNOX Fedora, Beaver Fifteen, size 7-1/4. This is a REAL LOOKER! Dating was easy! The fact that this liner has a very thin plastic overlay on the liner, this liner cover would have been just post “Onion-Skin”. These very thin plastic cover dates this to be an early 1950s fedora. NO MOTH BITES! This currently has been shaped into teardrop, pinched crown fedora. And because that Beaver Fifteen (read below) allows this to easily be steamed shaped into nearly any stye you wanted? A center dent only so you can do your own “Hand-Bashing”. If you’d like the center dent only? You’ll need to write to dad and ask him to steam that shape into this fedora. Pictures say much more about this OUTSTANDING KNOX fedora! NOTE: the original hat box it was in was an old 1950 Knox oval hat box but its hat holding insert set and the bottom is totally broken out, one side broken. It’s just not worth the shipping. So Dad has replaced it with that late 1950s though 1960s 8 sided Knox hat box. That is still in Great Condition! With its original hat holding insert set and very minor paper wear. Well worthy of shipping, storing the hat inside and displaying!So if you do NOT want the hat box to save money on shipping PLEASE WRITE to us after you buy the hat and we will refund back the difference. We took out dad’s collection of 1950s Stetson Beaver hats: 3X, Ten, Fifteen, Twenty and TwentyFive. This matched up perfectly with the Beaver Fifteen. This is a VINTAGE Beaver Fifteen and It’s nothing like what you would compare to anything post 1960! It’s just very soft and thick beaver, soft and thick and so easy to shape! This Beaver Fifteen is a bit thicker, heavier stock I think is a better way to describe it. It’s more of a Stetson Beaver Twenty when it comes to the thickness of the hat. It’s not a lightweight is the best way of describing it. If you have any questions please write us. Ok now the particularsWe found the under-tag that’s says it’s a size 7-1/8 but back at that time there was NO hat sizing standardization. That happened in the 1970s when most hat companies adopted the Tilley Hat Size Chart. So this actually measures to a PERFECT 7-1/4 and we actually measures each hat 3 times using different methods and this measures to a perfect size 7-1/4 at 22-3/4 inches. We use the Tilley hat size chart. This chart is still in use today. Color Medium Gray, the picture of the whole underside is the best representation of the actual color Size 7-1/4 or 22-3/4 inches or 58 Length 12-1/4 inches Width 11.7 inches Height 4.8 inches, at the highest point, as shaped now Wide Brim width 2.1 inches Black Grosgrain ribbon 2.2 inches If you’d like a Coat Trolley string? Dad has these listed here on eBay. We think a black one is the best match for this hat. These old dead stock Coat Trolley strings came from a hatters shop back in the 1960s. They are all still very elastic and will easily fit this (any hat you’d like one for looks though dads listings if you’d like to buy some) hat perfectly. The elastic string is very flexible and can either be sewn on by any decent tailor or just left as a decorative piece. There will be an excess of elastic string on the end that you can trim down if you don’t want it sewn to the hat. Just write to us and dad will add a black coat trolley string for $12.
