Description: Here is a lovely dining chair from the Esperanto line made by Drexel in the 1960s and probably designed by Jim Peed who later started his own line and was quite a force in the furniture business. I believe it's walnut but could be pecan or oak so hard to know for sure. It was one of the more popular lines meant to invoke a Spanish Revival/Mediterranean feel. I've seen a few different variations of Esperanto chairs and I think this is one of their earlier ones. I believe the striped fabric is some kind of wool blend and the chair is still actually quite comfortable. I have an Esperanto table in another listing so if you're interested in both I'll give you a better deal for sure. I will list the chair as local pickup only but will be happy to facilitate shipping through someone like uShip. If boxed the dimensions would be 40" x 22 x 22 so let me know if you'd like to go that route and I'll change the listing. Drexel made some fine furniture and was one of the best known and most loved American manufacturers. This chair combines both midcentury and European flair all in one. Thanks for looking.
