Description: This is an extremely nice tablecloth that was made for dining car use aboard Denver & Rio Grande Western Railroad passenger trains. IMPORTANT: This table cloth is BRIGHT WHITE in real life - we've "computer enhanced" pictures so you can see the words RIO GRANDE woven right into the fabric - a weaving technique called "Damask".)** CONDITION: You WILL NOT find any better than this. The fabric is a crisp linen /cotton (there is no label there's no label but the quality is evident). There are NO yellow spots, NO stains, NO holes. There is NO missing or broken stitching and NO fraying anywhere. The Damask weave takes advantage of light to show off the decoration. The cloth launders wonderfully and irons into a luxurious, crisp table covering. We're proud to offer it; someone has taken extremely good care of it, for it to be in this superb condition. Using the "Prospector" type style, the same lettering as appears on Prospector china, "Rio Grande" is woven into the top of the cloth BOTH WAYS, so the name faces diners no matter which side of the table they are sitting at. SIZE is approximately 48 inches by 35 inches. It has a woven-in decorative stripe around only three sides, so the blank edge goes against the outside wall of the car. The Rio Grande lettering is approximately 2 inches tall. The woven-in edge stripe is approximately 3 inches wide. ** Per the Merriam Webster dictionary, "Damask" is a firm lustrous fabric (as of linen, cotton, silk, or rayon) made with flat patterns in a satin weave on a plain-woven ground; made on jacquard looms.
