Description: The Blanchard River is a 103-mile-long tributary of the Auglaize River in northwestern Ohio, that drains a primarily rural farming area in the watershed of Lake Erie. It rises in central Hardin County, on the northern outskirts of Kenton. It flows generally north for its first 25 miles into eastern Hancock County, where it turns sharply to the west. It flows west through Findlay and past Ottawa. It joins the Auglaize from the east in western Putnam County approximately 2 miles north of Cloverdale. It was named for Jean Jacques Blanchard, a French tailor who settled among the Shawnee along the river in 1769. Fort Findlay, an American outpost in the War of 1812, was constructed along the river in 1812 at the site of the present-day city of Findlay. This card, published by the “Commercial Colortype Co.” captures the “High Banks on Blanchard River, Findlay, Ohio”. It is not postmarked but looks to be DB that is fair to good condition. There are some creases and a bent lower left corner but minor wear overall. The image is clean and clear as is the reverse. The “CCC” published holiday cards, national view-cards, and postcards depicting American Indians and landscapes in tinted halftones from 1904 to 1922. The colors on the card may vary due to the scanner settings and screen projections.Unless otherwise noted, I use Wikipedia, Playle's and Metropostcard for research and try to be as accurate as possible. Corrections appreciated. If this your card, it will be mailed promptly upon receipt of payment......
