This period (the early 80’s) was one of Bach’s finest for craftsmanship and sonic excellence. The condition of the horn is outstanding. The trumpet gleams from tip to tail, with no evidence of ever being dented or damaged. There are no apparent blemishes, dings or corrosion. It’s a remarkably well-preserved instrument. A gem for its age. Check out the pictures. In addition to the stunning cosmetics, the horn is also mechanically superb. Valve compression is “like new” –rare for an instrument of this vintage. Virtually no air escapes the valve casing. Valve motion is also fluid and quick with a nice feel. The trumpet features brass valve guides. All slides have been polished smooth for easy movement and rapid active tuning. The lead pipe is pristine. Not surprisingly, the trumpet sounds lovely.
