Description: Large Chinese wedding baskets, stackable lacquered with polychrome painted fish and floral motifs. These basket (also called “Bakul Siah”) was made in South China and probably used for a wedding in a Peranakan or Chinese community in South East Asia. The bride’s family would stuff the baskets with snacks to bring to the groom’s family. Approximately 28 inch tall and 17 inch in diameter it is a beautiful storage solution for any room, light weight, perfect for storing fabrics, towels and any bulky items.
