Description: This attractive serving tray is made in Italy of mirror-polished 18/10 stainless steel. It was manufactured by Alessi in the 1990s from an earlier design. The designer is Alessandro Mendini, and the pattern is Recinto, or “fence.” The bent scalloped edge gives its unique character. This particular tray was a presentation product for Nestlé. It is etched on the bottom with the Nestlé logo and reads “With compliments Nestlé 1999.” The photo of this etching was made by reflecting a dark board held above the surface in order to make the design more easily seen. The bottom has the same mirror polish as the top. The tray measures approximately 11 ½” x 17 ½” edge to edge, and is approximately 1 5/8” deep. It is made of heavy polished steel, and weighs a substantial 44 ounces, or 2.75 pounds. The sturdy and comfortable handles are incorporated into the scalloped edge design. Some scratches from use are visible on the polished surface of the tray.
