Description: (4) LA Times Midwinter magazines from the 1950's, $79. Good condition, not tear or cut outs. Great mid-century B&W advertising art with classic color photo color covers. Everything in good scannable condition. (See photo) Midwinter was bundled in with the LA Times Sunday paper at the beginning of the year. LA was a real boom town post WW2 and this publication was designed to promote businesses moving to Los Angeles. The New Year's Rose Bowl Parade at year's beginning was a great time to promote LA to the Angelinos and would be Angelinos. Black & white illos inside are classic 50's advertising art. These mags are rare and in really good shape. From my personal illustration scrap file collection of advertising art researched and purchased personally through long hours at the once many used publications shops in the SF Bay Area. I have scanned what I need and am now passing them along to other artists for their scrap file use. The magazines are all intact, bound as original, no tear or cut-outs.The 40's and 50's had some of the best examples of mid-century illustration arts before photography took over. Just great B&W advertising arts promoting capitalist boom town in the LA Basin.
