Description: Up for Buy It Now/Best Offer is a gorgeous Matthew Etienne men's "Pro-All-Star" handmade box lacrosse stick. I won't ramble about him, but Matt made sticks with his son in a little town named Oka, between Cornwall Island and Montreal. He became and to this day is considered one of the very best, most skilled, most CONSISTENT stick makers. You can find more research indicating why this would be considered a very special stick. Matt is no longer with us, and his sticks are getting much harder to find, especially in great shape. Most floating around were not cared for over the years and show their age. This one, at about 45 years old, is in fantastic shape and could be restrung to even be used today. The handle, which was left squared off for the player to sand and shape to his liking, is still in its square form on the lower half. The head is in terrific shape. It's been stored inside since I've owned it, which I believe is about 10 or 12 years. The pocket has no breaks in the leathers or strings and only one spot on original animal gut wall that might have popped out or broken off. Still, it's intact and could be brought back to life. And on top of it all, as the photos show, this stick has the year of make stamped on it, making it a super collectible piece of lacrosse history. The stamp was used by season -- this is from the 1979-1980 season. A terrific frame, very heavy. The Pro-All-Star was a stick of choice for pro indoor players throughout Ontario and Quebec, and even out west. Many of the pros used wood sticks long after plastic was introduced, because the makers paid such attention to the detail of these incredible things. This would be a compelling and noteworthy addition to any lacrosse stick collection. This stick measures just over 45.5 inches long and the head its widest point is 6 inches across.
