Description: This huipil is GORGEOUS! The weight of it is magnificent - you can feel the work that went into it just holding it in your hands. Great quality! It was made in Chichicastenango, Guatemala - by the Quiche Indians in the 1960s. It is sewn on the sides, so will come closed. Huipiles are typical Mayan dress and often are woven with meaning from village life. Woven by hand and on a backstrap loom, a piece like this would take months to make. This particular piece has amazing work - geometric patterns and HAND SPUN cotton weave at the bottom. The work is magnificent - one of a kind. Huipiles are NOT made this way anymore. This is truly a gem and would be an amazing addition to any collection. Please contact us if you want more photos or with any other questions regarding this piece! There are some stains at the bottom - this huipil is over 60 years old! ~
