Vintage 1960's GOLD Turner S-510 Dynamic cardioid microphone Hi Z w accessories

You are looking at a very interesting and beautiful Turner model S-510 Dynamic cardioid microphone from the 1960's in the rarer gold plate finish complete with a mic clip, external pop filter and short cable in which to operate. Turner came out with this 500 model series of mic in the 1960's and was part of their modern line up of hand held mics intended to compete with the heavy hitters such as Shure Brothers And Electro Voice. It was a very practical design being easy to hold and had a very nice sound overall. Probably not as good as the Shure 545 of that period or the E.V 676 but it was Turner's shining star. It does have excellent sound quality being uni-directional. This is a dual Z mic but it's currently set at High impedance with a smooth, clean tone. Really sounds fantastic. You can use an XLR to XLR cable on this mic with the one that exists but you'll get a dirtier tone so I included the external pop filter to help clean up the sound. You might like that though if you're using the piece as a harp mic. Pic # 3 shows this very model in an old Turner catalog. This mic will be great for the HAM radio and other basic communications. If you want more base from the mic you'll have to reconfigure the end connector to an XLR and properly wire that connector. Again, this is currently set at High Z. The 500 series had a much more elegant style then the more aggressive Shure 545 and used a 4 pin XLR type connection. These mics tend to hold up very well with age so they seemed to have had a good quality build but many of these had the Turner 4 pin style cables which can be harder to come by today. Just like Shure Brother's who offered their 545 model mic with the lower pistol grip (545S) Turner did the same. I actually have a 500 with the lower pistol grip for sale here on Ebay and it works great. This was the regular model however. This S-510 has been thoroughly cleaned and tested. Signal strength is 100% with zero issue. The die cast zinc alloy body comes with the unique gold plate finish that has a very goth / rock vibe. The screens are perfect and I replaced the inner foam pop filter as it was all but gone. I cleaned the 4 pin XLR connection as well ensuring a perfect signal once the cable is attached. You can see it's in good overall physical condition with just typical scratches, tarnish and scuff marks. Zero dents, engravings or corrosion however. The mic is appx 7 1/2 inches long X 1 1/2 inch wide at the tip and about average weight for a mic of this size. A very practical design. This S-510 mic came with the longer handle that incorporated the on / off switch. The switch works just as it should with no issues. The original gold mic clip is included. It shows just lite wear and works perfectly. It holds the mic snug allowing a wide degree of tilt up and down and will screw onto any desk or floor stand. It even shows you how to wire the 4 pin connector to get Low Z. S-510 comes with a short cable that's in very nice condition. It has the 4 pin Cannon XLR connection for the mic. The cable is soft, pliable and in perfect working order. It has the vintage male Switchcraft XLR end connector. Again, attach any longer XLR cable to what is provided and you're in business.
