Description: Vintage 1956 CONOCO "Denver and Vicinity" Road Map by H. M. Gousha. 9" x 4" - opens to 26.75" x 18". Colorful, covers and maps. (Maps in usual colors). Check photos carefully - this map has chunks out of edges, stains, tears, but it's still in one piece. It even has some "scribbling" on it - seems that many tears ago somebody had to find an area of Denver with 6 or 7 hospitals with walking distance! Mostly of value, I would say, to people interested in history; as in Denver still being a nice (and much smaller) city. To those that know metro-Denver, this is nearly unbelievable. I would (and did!) consider it a place keeper until finding one in better shape. BTW, I always wondered why the gas station road maps (any brand) of individual cities where not of more interest to collectors, because of their scarcity. I checked with an "insider" at one of the map companies once and was given a "for instance." One year (early 1970s), they produced, for one major gas brand, almost 2 million Iowa maps and only 30,000 Des Moines maps!
