Vintage 1950's Turner P9D dynamic microphone Low Z w period cable Shure Ampex

Description: Hello and welcome to The House of Chrome. You are looking at a very nice 1950's era Turner P9D model microphone with a dynamic element and all metal housing with satin chrome finish. The riveted Turner badge shows it's early age and it comes with the period mic cable shown in which to operate this mic. Pic # 2 is from an older Turner advertisement showing this very model and it's basic characteristics. This mic is set at 200 OHMS or Low Impedance but has more of a mid range tone. Not heavy on the bass like modern mics. It should be noted that this mic appears to have been slightly modified as it has a rear attached locking mechanism that was often used with CB radio mics. It's professionally installed so I don't know if it was done at the factory before being sold or if it was done at some point by a previous owner. A very unique variation for sure. This P9D was ideal for general broadcasting purposes being easy to grasp in the hand and comes with the practical "push to talk" black button that allows the mic to go live when depressed by the user. The P9D also came in the 9D model which had an on / off switch instead. The P9D has a very classy and cool deco vibe to it having a design all it's own. This model of mic was built for about 15 years before being discontinued. The satin chrome on this mic looks very nice with just a few tiny nicks and scuff marks. Zero dents, deep scratches or fractures. The original black cloth is free on any fading, rips or holes. This mic will screw on to any American desk or floor stand as well with it's universal mic stand threading. The Turner badge is completely legible despite the wear and rear attachment. It's well secured. Mic is solid with zero loose parts inside or out. The original element is still inside as well. I would give a this mic a very conservative 8 on a scale of 1 - 10 physically speaking. The mic comes with a period short 5 foot cable. The cable is soft, pliable and comes with a quality male Switchcraft XLR end connector that looks and works great. There is some small exterior cracks on the cable as seen in pic # 13 which does not affect the operation of this mic in any way. it's purely cosmetic.
