Vintage 1950’s ~ 1960’s FRENCH Fashion SCHOOLGIRL Hat ~ FROST BROTHERS, Texas

Description: Offered here is a nicely preserved Frost Bros. hat that has been in our family since its purchase in the late 1950s or early 1960s. The best way I can describe it is as a "Madeline-style" hat as it emulates the Parisian schoolgirl look of the title character in the Ludwig Bemelmans book. I believe the cross-hatched textured material of the hat is rayon (Ii think -- I'm a guy and don't really have experience with women's hats.), encircled with a lovely felt strap around the brim and hanging over the back. The Frost Bros. tag is located on the inside. The black hat is in absolutely excellent, near mint, condition -- it appears to have been rarely used. The inside measures about 6.75" from front to back, and about 6" side-to-side. Outside, it is about 10" in circumference, and the brim tapers around from 2" wide in the front to 1" wide in the back. The black velvet ribbon hangs down about 5" in the back. The cap part slopes slightly toward the top center.
