Vintage 1940's Turner BX crystal "bullet" harp mic Hi Z microphone w cable BX #2

Description: Hello and welcome to The House of Chrome. You are looking at a 1940's era Turner BX crystal "bullet" microphone with classic, clean lines and heavy deco influence. The crystal BX and CX series were originally intended as "general purpose" microphones as were the BD and CD dynamic models. This is the painted brown crystal version. These could be used for dispatch and also for singing as I've seen these used in old bands from the 1940's and 50's. Today these are sought after as excellent harp mics for use with a harmonica due to their gritty, muddy High Z sound. It comes with the Belden cable shown in which to operate. Pic # 2 is from an old Turner advertisement showing all 4 models of this series of mic and it's basic characteristics. That being said the mic came to me in a weaker working state as the original element still works but only at around 50% which really isn't strong enough to use even as a harp mic. The element will need to be replaced. I would suggest a Shure C.M or C.R element as they fit nicely inside and will give you excellent muddy tone for that old school "rockabilly" experience. The mic is wired properly so all you need to do is install a new working element. If you know how to use a soldering gun the whole element swap will only take about 10 minutes. The BX comes with a short 8 foot Belden 8401 model cable which is also vintage. It is soft, pliable and in decent shape. It has the quality, period Mallory male 1/4 inch end connector. The cable does show some heavier exterior stains but again works perfectly. As seen in the pictures provided this mic has typical lite wear showing small scuff marks, tiny scratches and a few small paint chips but it's free of any fractures or corrosion. There are no dents in the front grill. The original inner black screen is in excellent condition and acts as a pop filter. The front grill is free of any odors. The Turner badge is in excellent shape and completely legible. Threads for a stand are in perfect condition. Despite the cosmetic wear the mic is in good overall condition and I would rate this a true 7 on a scale of 1 - 10. The mic will screw on to any American desk or floor stand you have.
