Description: Hello and welcome to The House of Chrome. You are looking at a nice older Turner 22D (dynamic) model microphone from the 1940's. This heavily deco inspired bullet mic with satin chrome finish makes this one of the most widely recognized microphones ever produced. The 22 series came in several different styles over the years with the only changes coming in the lower half that carried the Turner badge and the type of element used. The 22 microphone either had the crystal element or the Dynamic element. All 22D's carried the Dynamic element which was a great improvement in sound quality. It comes with the period Electro Voice 423 model desk stand. These were intended as "general purpose" mics to be used for many different situations but happen to make fantastic harp mics today with their gritty / dirty high impedance sound. Pic # 2 is from an old 1950's ad showing the mics basic specs. You generally don't find many 22 series mics that works well or work at all. This 22D is one of them. It no longer works though the original element is still inside. This would make a nice prop or display piece because of it's decent physical condition and can always be fixed by replacing the element with another. As you can see the satin chrome finish has a nice luster despite signs of wear in the form of pitting and scuffs. No dents or engravings and the joint mechanism works perfectly allowing for a degree of tilt and enough tension to keep the mic firmly in place. The Turner badge looks good with typical wear and completely legible. The front grill is very nice with zero dents and the black cloth screen beneath is perfect. Let the pics be your guide please. This unit has the early lower half with rounded front pistol grip and black Turner badge. The threading for the cable and mic stand are perfect. No issues. I would give a this mic a true 7 on a scale of 1 - 10. The threading for the cable and mic stand are perfect. No issues. The mic comes with the stand shown. It's a period Electro Voice 423 model desk stand being quite a bit rarer than the mic. This stand is in good overall condition and compliments the mic well having just a tad bit more physical wear in the form of pitting on top of the base. The satin chrome base comes with a 6 inch chrome riser. The base has it's 4 original rubber pads and total height with mic is appx 11 inches. The base is 4 1/2 inches wide.
