Description: Hello and welcome to The House of Chrome. You are looking at a popular and very unique Turner 22D dynamic model microphone. This model was manufactured and sold during the 1940's and has a classic deco vibe with a "bullet" type appearance which was typical of many mics from that period and earlier before losing favor. The 22D was an all metal model design with a satin chrome finish and had some size and weight to it. It was an entry level model that was both affordable and rugged with good overall sound. This mic comes with the stand in which to display. You'll see in pic # 2 an old Turner advertisement showing the specs and prices on these 40's & 50's era Turner mics. I should noted that this mic still has it's original dynamic element but it barely works so this should used for display, prop or repair purposes only. Signal strength is only about 20%. The 22 series came in several different styles over the years with the only changes coming in the lower half that carried the Turner badge and the type of element used. The 22 model microphone either had the crystal element or the Dynamic element. All 22D's carried the dynamic element which normally held up better than the crystal elements over the past 70 years. This unit has the 1st generation rounded lower front and rounded rear pistol grip. The overall finish is good and shows small scratches, scuff marks and lite chrome loss. Zero dents or fractures. The front grill looks great as does the inner black cloth screen. I would give a this mic a conservative 7 on a scale of 1 - 10. A true piece of Americana and a conversation piece anywhere it sits. The threading for the cable and mic stand are perfect. No issues. Solid inside and out. The mic comes with a stand in which to display the mic and the stand is just a few years newer than the mic being a 1950's / 60's model. The stand is an Atlas DS-5 type with a stock painted cast iron base and polished chrome riser that makes a very stable platform for this D-104. The stand is almost as nice as the mic and still has the original rubber pads on the bottom. Lite discoloration on the original painted finish and paint loss. Total dimensions with mic and stand are 10 inches tall X 6 inches wide. As with all my vintage items... I can promise you will be happy with it for the price paid.
