Description: Handsome large-format fold-out 1938 road map of Minnesota's Arrowhead region, printed more than 86 years ago.This map opens to 24" x 36" and shows railroads, automobile roads, canoe routes, Indian reservations, counties, cities, and towns.It has photographs of local tourist attractions, wildlife, Native Americans, and iron ore mining operations.It was published by the Minnesota Arrowhead Association and is copyrighted © 1938. It is titled Map of the Minnesota Arrowhead Country and Adjacent Canadian Cities.The handsome cover artwork was painted by Duluth artist Nelson A. Long, who'd designed the original logo for the city's Skyline Parkway, depicting pine trees silhouetted against a full moon.On the reverse side there are travel directions, descriptions of local landmarks and recreational facilities, and ads for hotels and resorts. Condition: In excellent condition. You would be hard-pressed to find another in better condition. There is one small issue near the logo. It looks like the acid in the paper may have caused the issue over the years. The map folds to 9" x 4". See photos.The Arrowhead region of northeastern Minnesota starts at Duluth and stretches north to the Canadian border and west to Bemidji, including Brainerd, Grand Rapids, Superior National Forest, Hibbing, Aitkin, Fond du Lac Indian Reservation, Vermilion Lake, Itasca, Cloquet, and the Gunflint Trail.
