Description: Here is a nice vintage Pan American mellophone. The serial number 73231 would date this one to about 1928. Pan American, Made - In, Elkhart - IND., USA. This has the terminal crook design but it only has the shortest straight crook with it which I think puts it in F. The silver plating is in pretty good condition with some wear. There are a few dings and dents. All the slides pull nicely and the valves are smooth and fast. The pistons are nickel silver, not plated and they have the typical tarnish. The original case is in pretty good shape for its age and is useable. It has the holders for the circular key change crooks but they are missing. It takes a mouthpiece with a cornet size shank but it doesn't have a mouthpiece with it.
