Description: This vintage Lowensenf mustard jar/crock is a unique addition to any collection. Made in Dusseldorf, Germany, the jar is made of glass and the lid and spoon are made of plastic. The set includes a 3.5 oz container with a lid and spoon, and is perfect for storing honey or mustard. It is an original piece and has a German style, with its barrel shape & pale beige color that adds to its vintage appeal. The jar is small in size, making it perfect for any kitchen or collection. On November 1, 1903, Otto Frenzel founded the Erste Lothringische Essig- und Senffabrik (First Lorraine Vinegar and Mustard Factory) in Metz, then a part of the German Empire.[2] In 1920 after the First World war and the return of Metz and Alsace-Lorraine as a whole to France, the company was moved to Düsseldorf and renamed Neue Düsseldorfer Senfindustrie (New Düsseldorf Mustard Company). Also in 1920, the most well known product, Löwensenf Extra, a sharp Dijon-style mustard was introduced.
