Description: Completely original late victorian/early Edwardian box - probably Sorrento ware and bought asa souvenir whilst on a "grand tour". The box is in wonderful condition with lovely patina. Superbly made with slightly cushioned formed lid and still with its original brass catch. The lid is hinged and the hinges are strong with no play.Very pretty decoration on the lid of a bird perched on a branch. The decoration is in great condition and I can’t see any losses. Gorgeous grain to the wood - not sure of type of wood but probably olive or a fruit wood. Measurements 3.25 INCHES (8CMS) X 2.5INCHES (6.3CMS X 1.5 INCHES (3.7 cms)
