Description: The listing is for a silver plate pickle caster, manufactured by Rogers Smith & Co, New Haven, CT. The company was organize din 1857 to manufacture silver plate hollow ware, and merged in 1861 with Rogers Brother Mfg Co. In 1862 the company sold their production to the Meriden Co., in 1863 Meriden Britannia bought the hollow ware division, and in 1865 the plating show was transferred from New Haven to Meriden CT and the company merged with the Meriden B. Co. Shortly after, the company ceased to exist as a separate firm and was used as a trademark of Meriden B. The pickle caster is unique in design. The cover can be lifted and hung onto the top of the handle and suspended. The very heavy and thick glass insert features beading on the base and rim while the silver plate caster frame rests on 4 ball feet Condition: The pickle caster is in good condition as shown in the pictures. The glass insert is very heavy and thick with no discoloration to the glass or cracks. There are a few flea bites to the rim as shown in picture 16 and a small ding to the cover as shown in pictures 13 and 18. Size: It stands about 11.5 inches tall and measures 6.5 inches wide at the widest point. Shipping: We will ship the pickle caster by USPS Advantage. We gladly combine shipping whenever possible.
