Description: Very rare book titled: “Baby’s Record” by Artist and illustrator Maude Humphrey, the mother of famous actor Humphrey Bogart. There are thirty illustrations in back & white and 3 full page color illustrations, approximately: 9” x 11” The book chronicles from baby’s birth to many of the firsts in a child’s life. Printed on very heavy paper stock. Condition: front and back covers have some soiling and stains. A few pages in the front are separating from the binding but book is solidly intact. Inside pages show some age discoloration. Full color illustrations are in excellent condition and all are signed by the artist and the date: 1898 B&W illustrations range from excellent to VG with slight fading The only 3 pages with writing on them and are in photo section. This would have been a very expensive book to purchase in its day. Maude Humphrey was a famous illustrator known for her beautiful women and children. While she primarily worked with the publisher, Frederick Stokes, many postcards featuring her work were published and can be found today. Her son, Humphrey Bogart was one of her favorite subject s. Unfortunately he is not featured here. Bogart was born in 1899 and all the illustrations in this book date from 1898. Please email with any questions.
