Description: Here we have two fantastic oval wall plaques/ plates , depicting views in Dresden .I’m unsure of the age of these and haven’t been able to find any comparable pieces. Obviously the imagery is somewhat romantically Victorian , and they could be antique , but I personally think these are from the 1960s because of the form of the plates themselves. Earlier wall plaques tend to have a more embellished edging of a rococo style . Although these give the appearance of being painted I believe them to be a quality printed design , it’s very hard to tell but what leads me to this is on each plate there’s a just distinguishable line down the left side . And a line across the top of the woodland lake scene . This is a common give away on the larger scale items where the printing process was , At the limits of what was possible at the time . That said they do appear to have very nice subtle areas of hand panting to blend and lose those said edges . In particular the lake / woodland scene does by the texture of the surface ,look to have had a good deal of hand painted embellishing to the branches of the trees prior to firing .These points are no means a distraction from the overall beauty of these objects , rather a honest observations on there production.These are stunning plaques and are in fantastic condition, apart from the very fine surface crazing to the glaze ,which is common in this type of object .They don’t have any losses or restoration. I have just noted on each plate two marks on the edges these are just firing marks from a frame in the kiln ,in production. I haven’t discovered the makers marks as yet , you may have more luck .The images depict “ The Grand Garden of Dresden” & Zwinger Dresden.I’ve added two more contemporary images of these locations .A beautifully complemented pair of large wall plaques .51cm tall, 31cm wide,4cm deep. I will not split these plaques so please don’t ask ,they have always been together and should in my opinion stay together . I always give a fair postage service that is tracked and signed for . These particular plates are large and heavy , they also require double packing to give them the best chance in transit. Subsequently they will not be cheap to post .If there is any difference in postage costs to that stated ,when the item is shipped,please be reassured I will refund said difference if any .Thankyou.
