Latching valves use a 50 ms pulse of power to turn on or off, and as such their power is negligible. Latching valves consume 36,000 times less power than a traditional sprinkler, based on a 1 hour cycle. Note these will not work with traditional 24VAC sprinkler controllers. You will need a DC latching valve controller. If creating your own DIY controller, use an H-Bridge in your circuit.
