Description: Van Waldron Impressionist Oil Painting California Art Framed Mountain Landscape Description and Item Information Up for sale is this beautiful, framed, oil on masonite board painting by the listed California artist, Van Waldron. Please excuse any glare in the photos. In an impressionist style, this painting depicts a northern California landscape with snow-covered mountains; there are yellow wild mustard flowers in the foreground. The scene looks like it took place in early spring, since there is snow at higher elevations and flowers at lower areas. The sight area is approximately 10 1/4 inches by 13 1/4 inches; the board dimensions are about 11 inches by 14 inches. The painting is housed in a black plein air style frame with gold-finished accents. The frame dimensions are approximately 16 3/8 inches by 19 3/8 inches. Unpacked, this piece weighs just over 4 3/4 pounds. It would be a wonderful addition to a collection of California fine art. Identification At the lower right, the painting is signed, dated, and copyrighted, "Van Waldron 92 ©." It is titled verso, as shown, "Snow Mtn." and it is dated "1990" (which is a different date than the one that is on the front. It is also numbered, "#7026." A different title, which was scribbled out, was, "Rain." Other written notations that were scratched out look to say, "Painted at Naval Air Base." The exact location depicted is not known. This painting is by the well-regarded California artist, Van Waldron (1936-2012). He is listed on askART, in Who's Who in Art, in Who's Who in America, and in Who's Who in the World. Per askART, this artist is known for landscape, seascape, and floral still life painting. Per the artist's website, Waldron was a professional painter for over four decades. He also worked as a commercial artist and art show judge. Waldron taught workshops in California and Nevada. Over the course of his career, he won over 300 national and regional awards. His paintings were exhibited in several galleries across the United States. Condition The artwork looks great overall, with no damage noted. It is clean and nice. The frame has light wear, with a couple of tiny outside corner dings (not on the front side), but it looks good overall. The back side is as shown.
