Description: An art deco mechanical box clock designed by Van Cleef & Arpels. This is an extremely rare multifunctional desk piece, created in Paris France during the art deco period by the jewelry house of Van Cleef & Arpels back in the 1930's. This amazing geometric piece is a mechanical desk box, and a clock. It was crafted in the shape of a cube in solid .925/.999 sterling silver with high polished finish. It is engraved on top, in high relief with the figure of a marlin swordfish. The front part, where the clock face is located, have a secret door with pins and hinges, which when opened, reveals four compartments covered in fine cedar wood.Dial: Square, brushed and silvered, analog with black Arabic geometric numbers and blued steel hands. Inscribed, "Greenleaf & Crosby Co. Van Cleef & Arpels Inc.".Movement: Swiss, 15 jewels, mechanical winding for 8 days.Weight: 1,696.89 Grams, (1087.75 Dwt). or 54.24 Troy Ounces.Measurements: 95 mm by 95 mm by 95 mm (3.75 x 3.75 x 3.75 Inches).Hallmarks: Stamped with French marks; each part with the mark for the assay and the warranty of the silver, the maker's mark MB inside a lozange cartouche, the serial numbers signed, "VAN CLEEF & ARPELS FRANCE 387".
