Item's Code: XR-1019 ABOUT: This "Kukryniksy" album is a collection of collective works of 3 famous Soviet Russian caricaturist (cartoonist)-artists known as "Kukrynisty". The set consist from 4 volumes & this listing is only for vol. #4 (other 3 volumes are listed separately). This volume (vol. 4) presents personal works (paintings and drawings) of Kukrynisty's individual artists: M. V. Kupriyanov, P. N. Krylov & N. A. Sokolov. --------------------------------------- The Kukryniksy (Russian: Кукрыниксы) were three caricaturists/cartoonists in the USSR with a recognizable style. "Kukryniksy" was a collective name derived from the combined names of three caricaturists (Mikhail Kupriyanov, Михаил Васильевич Куприянов), Porfiri Krylov (Порфирий Никитич Крылов), and Nikolai Sokolov (Николай Александрович Соколов) who had met at VKhUTEMAS, a Moscow art school, in the early 1920s. The three began drawing caricatures under the joint signature in 1924. They became nationally famous in the 1930s after the rise of fascism, drawing for Krokodil, the Moscow satirical paper. They received international recognition for their attacks on Adolf Hitler, Benito Mussolini, Heinrich Himmler, Joseph Goebbels, and Francisco Franco.
