Description: This really neat, uncommon post card of the U.S.S. West Virginia was sent to Norridgewock, Maine, U.S.A., on October 11, 1907! The sender was a sailor serving aboard the U.S.S. West Virginia, a Pennsylvania-class armored cruiser! The addressee was a collector of post cards, and the sailor, a fellow collector, wanted to exchange cards with him/her! At the time of writing, the ship was serving with the First Squadron of the Pacific Fleet. To continue, outside of some perf damage at its top caused by a small tear, the green, 1-Cent, U.S. "Franklin," definitive is in good condition. There are some minute stains/gum residue around some of its perfs, and it has become partially unglued from the post card. The machine cancel from the San Francisco Ferry Station Post Office is quite attractive, though, but it's a bit light/faded in some places. Lastly, as for the post card, itself, it's in fine-very fine shape! It's got some light stains on the front, but has very little wear and tear on it in. The image on the front is still quite clear! Noted, imperfections aside, this post card remains an attractive, unique piece of U.S. Naval postal history connected to a sailor serving on the U.S.S. West Virginia, and a potential new person with whom to exchange post cards!
