She was present when enemy naval aircraft fired on the sleeping ships during the 8am, December 7, 1941 attack on Pearl Harbor. Her motor launches with stretcher parties evacuated wounded from the USS Arizona and USS West Virginia before assisting with the USS Oklahoma's injured crew. The vessel continued to serve in the Pacific Theater providing medical care for wounded USN crewmen and Marines and earned seven Battle Stars for WW II.
