HSM-37 provides helicopter resources for all Arleigh Burke-class destroyers and Ticonderoga-class cruisers based at Pearl Harbor. The squadron was established as Helicopter Anti-Submarine Squadron (Light) Three Seven (HSL-37) on 3 July 1975 and was redesignated HSM-37 on 1 October 2013. USS Vandegrift (FFG-48) was an Oliver Hazard Perry-class frigate of the United States Navy. The ship was named for General Alexander A. Vandegrift (18871973), 18th Commandant of the Marine Corps. My father was a Colonel in the USAF and collected patches from every Air Force, Army, Navy and Marine unit he visited all over the Country and World to give to me as souvenirs.
